Auf dieser Seite möchte ich die besten Videos von Werken Konrad Wölkis zusammenstellen.

Konrad Wolki hat mit seinen Kompositionen einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Musik für Zupforchester geliefert. Seine Werke werden immer wieder aufgeführt. In seinen frühen Werken findet man einen Sinfonischen Stil wie bei der Sinfonie in einem Satz und den Ouvertüren, bei denen neben den Zupfinstrumenten auch Bläser und Schlagzeug besetzt ist.

In seinen Späteren Werken wie der Suite No. 2 findet man dann eher einen neuen Stil mit einer Rückbesinnung auf die historische Spieltechnik der Mandoline im 18. Jahrhundert.

In der Europäischen Suite findet man dann auch Einflüsse aus Folklore und Volkslied.

Konrad Wölkis Werke sind auch in Japan sehr beliebt und können von den dortigen großen Orchestern auch sehr authentisch aufgeführt werden. Ich habe die japanischen Angaben übersetzt damit man die Werke so richtig finden kann.

In der Bundesakademie Trossingen gab es während des Mandolinensymposiums 2008 eine Ausstellung über Konrad Wölki. Von dieser Ausstellung habe ich die folgende Kurzbiografie.

The 25th Anniversary Concert

This is a lovely overture composed by Konrad Wölki who is considered to be the founding father of modern German plucked-string music.

It is written in four sections:

A 'langsam' (slow) introduction of the main theme, an allegro that expands on the theme, a soft andante with a trio, and finally the recapitulation of the theme in allegro with a fast fanfare to finish.

On guitar is Werner Ruecker, conductor and musical director of The Sydney Mandolin Orchestra, as well as composer and guitar teacher.

To create the bass, I transposed the part to be playable on my mandola and then pitch-shifted the recording down to match the original tuning.

"Spanish Sketch" Composition: K. Wölki
Wölki's composition may have expressed his impression of traveling to Spain in two movements.
The first movement, "Canzone," begins with a melancholy melody, but it changes completely and the tune becomes brighter. Ride a Spanish train and you'll see an idyllic scene with a refreshing breeze coming through the open windows.
The second movement "Danza" seems to be a Spanish folk dance, but there is some melancholy at the beginning of the song. The middle part is also transposed and the melody that appeared in the first movement is reproduced. And the end is a fierce dance.

The Suite by Georg Friedrich Händel performed here on YouTube by the Dutch Mandolin Chamber Orchestra Het CONSORT is a compilation of 4 pieces arranged for Mandolin Orchestra of Händel's harpsichord music based on an earlier setting for mandolin orchestra by the German mandolin pioneer Konrad Wölki. All the movements show Händel's remarkable polyphonic and wonderful melodic style. Especially known, in solo instrumental as well as in orchestral versions, is the famous theme of the Sarabande to which Händel added two beautiful variations.

The Mandolin Chamber Orchestra HET CONSORT plays solely on Roman instruments of the Mandolin family as there are the 1st and 2nd mandolin, the mandola and the mandoloncello.
